Abstract:
This seminar examines political risk analysis in operations and supply chain management (OSCM), focusing on geopolitical tensions and host-country political risk. We will explore how such dynamics shape firms’ foreign supply bases, the implications of friendshoring for global supply chain reconfiguration, and the associated risks for firms and nation-states. Methodological challenges will also be addressed, including the limits of quantitative approaches and the value of qualitative methods. Using the case of foreign firms in China, we will illustrate these issues and conclude with a discussion of current political risk mitigation strategies in OSCM.
